How to Apply

To open a Secure Trust Bank Savings Account you need to:

  • Be aged 18 years or over
  • Be a UK resident**
  • Hold a Personal UK Current Account (with a cheque book)

*Our savings accounts are available to people who are 'ordinarily resident' (those who normally live in the UK - not including the Channel Islands and Isle of Man) for tax purposes.

What to do to open your account?
For personal customers, we are able to verify your identity electronically but to do this we may share information with credit reference agencies (CRAs). To verify your identity and suitability for an account, we use information from the Electoral Register and other public sources.

This will mean you will not need to send us any original documentation to confirm your identity. If you wish to take advantage of this service please tick the appropriate box under the "IMPORTANT" section of the application form.

Or alternatively

  • Complete and sign the application form.
  • Sign a cheque payable to the account holder and send to us.
  • Enclose a recent (within the last 3 months) bank/building society/credit card statement or utility bill and telephone bill as proof of identity for each applicant. Please note that the documents should be the originals and should show the account holder's name and address. If you cannot provide the documents requested, please call us to discuss alternative documents which will be acceptable. The documents provided will be returned to you.
  • If you are a new customer you will also need to enclose either your original passport or driving licence.
  • Limited Company applications will also need to provide -
    * The Company's Memorandum & Articles of Association, which will be returned to you.
    * The Company's Certificate of Incorporation, which will be returned to you.
