If someone has applied for an account or loan using your details, you may receive a letter or email about it. You’ll need to contact the company immediately to tell them.
Check your bank statements and if there’s a transaction that you don’t recognise, contact your bank as soon as possible. The earlier you spot something, the sooner your bank will be able to investigate.
If you’re expecting a new bank card, a statement, or a letter from your bank and it’s taking longer than you would have thought, your post could have been intercepted or stolen. Contact your bank so that they can protect your account.
